We all have had stories about pick-up lines. We have probably used it ourselves or received some. We make jokes about them all the time. The verdict is, they are usually crass, cheesy and a total turn-off. Here are some really funny ones from “How to get the man/woman you want”:

• What is a beautiful girl like you doing in a place like this?
• What have you been all my life?
• It’s a good thing I have a library card because I am definitely checking you out
• Was your father an alien? Because honey, on planet Earth there’s nothing like you
• Your legs must be tired because you’ve been running through my mind all night
• You with all those curves, and me with no brakes
• Do you believe in love at first sight or should I walk by again?
• Here’s some loose change, call your mum and tell her you won’t be home tonight
• I play the field and I think I just hit a home run with you
• If beauty were sunlight, you’d shine from a million light-years away
• Do you have a map? I just keep getting lost in your eyes

And here are some pretty safe ones:

• Hi…
• I was really nervous about coming and saying ‘hi’, but I really wanted to meet you
• I don’t want to offend you, I’m sure you’re here with a partner but I had to come and tell you that you’re just gorgeous
• Can I buy you a drink?
• You look like you’ve having a good time
