Compliments

By Serene, 8th June 2010

Hope you all had a wonderful Queen’s birthday weekend. To start off your work week on a great start, I would just like to say that “you are fabulous” if you have been reading my ridiculous writings every week. ;) Deep down, we all need compliments to help nudge us along. We may have probably received the usual generic compliments or given some ourselves. But compliments, no matter how silly and trivial, when heartfelt, makes our day. It can be quite easy to make us happy sometimes. The greatest compliments I’ve received are usually off-the-cuff but sincere. It helps to be creative and specific when complimenting. So check out some tips from “How to get the man/woman you want” on how to give great compliments:

*  Go for details. Avoid giving a generic compliment
*  Make it heartfelt; 90% of women like receiving compliments as long as they are genuine
* Listen to cues to find out what he or she is really proud of
* Get the timing right. Don’t compliment when he or she has just given you one ( although I think it is okay to return a compliment) or when he or she is angry or upset
*  As you give the compliment, maintain eye contact
* For that added spark, women should touch the guy on his hand while delivering it (this is so old school)

So go on, knock somebody’s socks off today with a wonderful compliment. Share with me the greatest compliment you have received at serene@thechoice.co.nz
